When shipping any type of media, and especially hard drives, it is extremely important that your media is packaged carefully to avoid any additional damage during shipment. Proper packaging will ensure a greater degree of recovery of your data. 3 easy steps will insure a safe delivery of your media to one of our facilities.

1 If possible, wrap the media in an anti-static material.

2 Pack the media in a box twice the size of the media, using foam, bubble or any anti-shock / vibration material. This is to ensure that the media does not move around in the package during shipment.

International Customers

Customs Information for Customers from Non-EU Countries (e.g. Switzerland)

For shipments from non-EU countries, please note that proper customs clearance is required when importing your storage device into Germany.

Proforma Invoice

In addition to the packaging described above, you will need a proforma invoice in 4 copies for customs. Please hand the invoices to the courier together with your shipment. You can find an example of a proforma invoice here. You can also download the proforma invoice as a Word document and edit it directly.

Customs Clearance Costs

Please also note that additional costs may arise when importing the device into Germany. These may include, in particular, import duties and taxes as well as fees for the required customs clearance by external service providers. We will pay these costs on your behalf and subsequently charge them to the customer.

Even if the device being sent is defective and is being submitted solely for data recovery, and its actual value may be low, the shipment must still be properly processed through customs.
